It's possible that people vacationing in Cancun picked up the virus from any number of sources in that melting-pot other than from native Mexicans. Of course that doesn't mean that Cancun isn't dangerous, but I don't hear anybody saying that people should avoid New York, even though there are many more cases there than in Cancun.
