Al-Jazeera's popular Muslim cleric, Yusuf al-Qaradawi, said on January 30 that Hitler had put the Jews in their place and that he wished to be given a chance to shoot at Jews so they would bomb him and he would die a martyr.
As Judea Pearl, Daniel Pearl's father, wrote in the Wall Street Journal Monday:
The media have played a major role in handing terrorism this victory of acceptability. Qatari-based Al Jazeera television, for example, is still providing Sheikh Yusuf Al-Qaradawi hours of free air time each week to spew his hateful interpretation of the Koran, authorize suicide bombing, and call for jihad against Jews and Americans.
Then came the August 2008 birthday of Samir Kuntar, the unrepentant killer who, in 1979, smashed the head of a four-year-old Israeli girl with his rifle after killing her father before her eyes. Al Jazeera elevated Kuntar to heroic heights with orchestras, fireworks and sword dances, presenting him to 50 million viewers as Arab society's role model. No mainstream Western media outlet dared to expose Al Jazeera efforts to warp its young viewers into the likes of Kuntar. Al Jazeera's management continues to receive royal treatment in all major press clubs.

Absurd
Well, he's insane - and yes, dangerous.
Hi now,
It would be absurd if he was an unimportant nobody. But he has a regular show that is seen throughout the Arabic speaking world on Al-Jazeera television.
This is serious and he is dangerous. The idea that killing Jews is a good thing comes from the Hadith:
'The Last Hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: `Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him'; but the tree Gharkad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews.' (Sahih Muslim, Book 40, Number 6985).
Note that this Hadith is quoted in the conclusion of the Hamas charter Article 7.

Hi now,
I deleted my first comment because the links weren't working. Then I reposted it with good links. In the meantime, you had responded.
If he is insane, he is insane the way Hitler was insane. It is a communal insanity.
Agreed.
Has anyone published in the psyche world regarding communal insanity? You'd think that social psychologists like Philip Zimbardo would be getting close to it...
Hi now,
I don't know.
We need to cease responding with sympathetic remarks like "he is insane" and get angry. As long as we make excuses for this behavior, we allow it to continue, we sanction it. We have to say that this must stop, and then we have to take actions to make it unacceptable to these people to continue. We need to make it difficult for their own people to allow them to continue. We can find ways to do this if we are willing to exert some self discipline.
Well, we need to understand communal insanity in order to know what the appropriate response is. We should also caution ourselves from pointing only to the speaker. He, like Hitler, has an enthusiastic audience. It's a group phenomena. As is our response.
